Paolo Antonacci represents the third generation
of well known art dealers established in Rome in
1916. After twenty years of training in the family
business, Paolo founded his own gallery in 1998
in via del Babuino 141 / A, in the centre of the
art district of Rome, carrying on the family tradition.
Paolo Antonacci’s
primary interest is in Italian and European paintings
of “The Grand Tour” and the “Vedute”
of the late Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century, focusing
on the views of Rome and its Campagna celebrated
by hundreds of artists, both Italian and foreign.
His constant research, reflected in the numerous
exhibitions organized in his gallery, has led him
to be considered a valued specialist in this field.
Over the years,
Paolo Antonacci has forged strong relationships
with many National and International collectors,
scholars and museum curators. He has sold important
pictures to the Museo di Roma, to the Galleria
Nazionale d’Arte Moderna of Roma, to
the Musei Vaticani, to the Museo del
Corso, to the American Academy of
Roma, and to the Sovrintendenza per il Polo
Museale Fiorentino.
Many events has
been organized in the gallery such as exhibitions
of contemporary artists, of photography, of ancient
coloured marbles, plasters from the Chiurazzi collection
and many others.
On several occasions
in recent years, the gallery Paolo Antonacci has
lent important works from his collection to institutional
exhibitions such as the Galleria Nazionale di
Arte Moderna, Palazzo Braschi, the Museo
Napoleonico, Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica,
Museo del Corso, Castel Sant’Angelo, Museo
Storico Vaticano, Complesso del Vittoriano, Roma;
the MART, Rovereto, the
Villa Mondragone in Frascati, the Palazzo
Ducale in Genoa, Palazzo Milzetti in
Faenza.
